Praxis supports HIPL’s Interfaith Declaration on a Just Transition

Hoosier Interfaith Power and Light (HIPL) is dedicated to deepening the connection between ecology and faith. Its mission is to help people of faith recognize and fulfill their responsibility for the stewardship of creation. Praxis Investment Management^® has a long history of partnership with HIPL and respects their commitment to engaging the faith community on issues of environment and sustainability.

HIPL has developed an Interfaith Declaration on a Just Transition. The declaration lists the impacts that climate change has on our communities – and especially the most vulnerable people. It recognizes that climate change, environmental degradation, and injustice threaten the health of our society and damage our relationship with the world around us – a relationship that is one of spiritual significance.

The declaration commits the signatories to moving our faith communities away from extraction and emission and toward a meaningful relationship with our environment. It also asks Indiana state legislators to declare climate change a significant threat and establish a task force to address it during the next legislative session.

Praxis is one of the organizational signatories to the statement, in addition to many individual Praxis employees. Praxis is committed to faithfully addressing the climate crisis through impact strategies including company engagement, green investments, policy advocacy and education, and proxy voting.
